Young Bristol supports the Government’s findings that younger adults aged 16 to 24 years old are at particular risk of feeling lonely more often. The research released in the strategy for tackling loneliness finds that this is likely due to both psychological development, and the many transitions in the environment that young people are experiencing.
We welcome the Government’s response to support grassroots community projects and to raise awareness of social connections through existing programmes such as youth groups.
Here at Young Bristol, we feel it is vitally important that young people have access to community spaces and activities where they can build confidence, have fun and interact with other people of all ages. Our eight community youth clubs provide this space and our new mobile youth bus will create this provision in those harder to access areas in and around the city.
