Broadplain & Riverside Youth Project have won the 2018 Community Club of the Year Award at the Bristol Post Sports Awards last night at Ashton Gate Stadium. The teaching team at the boxing club provide basic skills education and encourage engagement in sport to young people who have been excluded from mainstream education. Project leader Dennis Stinchcombe MBE has recently embraced the Parkinson’s community, offering non-contact boxing classes once a week. The programme he has devised is now recognised by the national charity, Parkinson’s UK, and has been endorsed by England Boxing.
