As part of our 2022-25 strategic priorities, Young Bristol is focusing on delivering high-quality, open-access Programmes and Youth Work to young people.
This week, we started the Easter holidays off with a bang! Young Bristol hosted an Interclub Arts day at Hartcliffe Club for Young People. The day consisted of a variety of workshops, where there was something on offer for all of our young people and staff to enjoy! We invited young people from Avon Youth Club, BS14 Stockwood Youth Club, Hartcliffe Club for Young People and The Grove @ Bedminster Down.
Graffiti Workshop
One of the workshops we had on offer at the Interclub Arts day was a graffiti workshop. This was run by Nick from Olas Art. During this activity, young people were able to try protective equipment such as overalls and masks. The group's task was to spray paint old vinyl's, using different techniques to make a space-themed vinyl. We had some amazing creations from the group, which they were able to take home.
DJ workshop
Another workshop that we offered to young people was a DJ workshop. This workshop was run by The Cause. During this activity, The Cause demonstrated to young people how to use a DJ deck and the different setting that they could use to remix music. The music they mixed was played out loud! Everyone was able to enjoy their work while taking part in other activities.
We also hosted a wide range of other activities such as a lyric writing workshop, arts and crafts workshop as well as a few multi-sports activities! It was great to see young people engage with all of these activities.
Protect the egg
Finally, young people came together into teams and used scrap materials to "protect the egg". Instead of using an egg, we used water balloons. If the group was able to protect their balloon, they had the chance to pop a balloon over a staff member's head! Three out of the four groups were able to protect their water balloon.
Thank you to The Cause and Nick for delivering workshops to our young people! We're excited to host the next Interclub day!
