Meet Young Bristol's Patron, President and Board of Trustees, who help to drive our developing work with children and young people across Bristol.

HM Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Peaches Golding OBE CStJ

HM Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Peaches Golding OBE is a highly experienced, award winning Executive and Non-Executive Director. She commenced the role of Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol on 23 April 2017.

As Lord-Lieutenant, her interests include mental health, widening access to opportunities for those most disadvantaged in society, education, social justice, volunteering and poverty. In the commercial sphere she is interested in research and development, science and technology-based enterprises as well as sustainability and environmental protection.

Peaches is the Independent Chair of the Bristol Water Customer Challenge Panel, Non-Executive Consultant of Moon Consulting Ltd and a Trustee of the ss Great Britain. She won the Bristol Post and Bath Chronicle ‘Outstanding Contribution to Business in Bristol and Bath 2015’ award and was England’s first black High Sheriff, serving the County and City of Bristol in 2010-2011.

She led on regional and national campaigns regarding corporate responsibility for Business in the Community (one of The Prince’s Charities) from 1994 to 2011.

Peaches was awarded the OBE in 2009 for services to minority ethnic people in the South West. In 2010 she was awarded an honorary MBA and, in 2017, was awarded an honorary Doctorate of the University by the University of the West of England.

President

Jonathan Webb MB ChB FRCS (Orth)

Jonathan is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in all types of knee surgery. He works in the Bristol Nuffield Chesterfield Hospital and the Fortius Clinic in Marylebone, London.Jonathan’s charitable interests include the Society of Merchant Venturers, the Society of St Stephens Ringers, and the University of Bristol campaign for resource.

Whilst training to be a surgeon Jonathan played rugby in the amateur days, winning 33 caps for England, playing for Bristol University, Bristol and Bath. During this time England won 2 grand slams and reached the final of the 1991 Rugby World Cup. In 1992 Jonathan was awarded the Rothmans Player of the year award. In 2011 Jonathan joined the RFU Council, he is now the World Rugby representative and sits on the Board of the RFU. He also chairs the Medical Advisory Committee and the Concussion Risk Management Group.

Jamie Cameron

Jamie is a Senior Associate at Burges Salmon specialising in employment law. Jamie is also the firm’s Head of Community Engagement – helping to develop and implement Burges Salmon’s responsible business strategy, with a particular focus on the community aspects of this. In this role, Jamie was one of 120 people from Burges Salmon who volunteered on a week-long project helping to develop Young Bristol’s outdoor activity centre. Jamie has been a trustee since 2011 and became Chairman in 2017, working on the development and delivery of the new 2020 strategy. Jamie joined Young Bristol because he believes strongly in the need for community based activities and opportunities to be available for all young people locally around Bristol. Jamie supports a range of charitable interests both in and out of work and is currently working on the Bristol City Challenge Leadership programme – looking at how to support people with complex mental health issues and multiple needs.

Victoria joined the Board of Young Bristol in 2021 and is passionate about ensuring our city’s young people have a prominent voice in how the city is managed. As Bristol Director for Business West, the Chambers of Commerce for our region, Victoria leads on managing the relationships that Business West holds with business and political leaders across our region. Sitting on multiple boards, including chairing Bristol’s Economy Board, Victoria brings together stakeholders from across the city to champion Bristol to make this region the best place to live, learn and work. Helping to shape policy across the region, Victoria works with businesses and communities with commitment and determination, motivated by the desire to create an economically, sustainable, and culturally prosperous region.

Marcus Graham

Treasurer

Marcus Graham is a Partner at EY, based in their Bristol office - he is an accountant and specialises in financial due diligence on M&A transactions. Marcus has had various positions in not-for-profit organisations in London before relocating to Bristol with his young family in 2016. He is committed to Bristol and to contributing his skills to support the provision and development of opportunities for young people in the city.

Carolyn Jenkins

Carolyn has many years’ experience across a broad range of commercial disciplines and industry sectors. She currently divides her time between working on commercialisation projects at the University of Bristol, holding roles as Director/Observer on the boards of various University spin out companies, and other freelance and charitable activities. Carolyn joined Young Bristol as a Trustee in December 2019, and is committed to Bristol and supporting the development of young people in the city.

Cathy Dodsworth

Cathy grew up near Blackpool, Lancashire, spending a great deal of her time at a local youth club. During this time, she enjoyed playing hockey, hiking in the Lake District and completing her Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award. When working in Plymouth, she assessed young people undertaking their DofE expedition across Dartmoor. ‍Now living in Bristol, Cathy is a Coach and Safeguarding Lead for her local rugby club. Her son also regularly attends boxing sessions at Broad Plain & Riverside Youth Project! Cathy has personally benefitted from, and is passionate about, the value that sport, outdoor activities and youth clubs bring to the lives of young people. Cathy is a HR Professional, with over 30 years experience across public and private sectors. She was delighted to take up the post of Trustee in January 2025, supporting the amazing things that Young Bristol achieves across the city.

Fahma Mohamed

Fahma Mohamed

Trustee

Fahma is a passionate advocate for young people's rights and a leader in the youth sector. She currently serves as Project Manager at Girls Friendly Society, focusing on The Girls Rights Collective and the organisations 150th anniversary. Fahma's career has been defined by her work empowering young people, particularly in the areas of gender equality and social justice. She led a successful campaign against FGM as a teenager, securing over 250,000 signatures and contributing to a £35 million government initiatives to end FGM and forced marriage. This work earned her the Young Campaigner of the Year Award and an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of Bristol. Fahma's previous experience includes working with young people to challenge harmful practices and support their personal development, particularly around issues of cultural identity and gender-based violence. As a Trustee at Young Bristol, Fahma hopes to bring her passion for youth advocacy, extensive experience and strategic insight to help shape the organisation's future and expand opportunities for young people across the city!

Jay is the Director of People and Culture at Teach First, where he drives people strategy and execution to advance the charity's mission of tackling educational inequality. With over 17 years of experience in HR, business transformation and consulting, Jay brings deep expertise in people management, leadership and organisational development. Passionate about supporting young people, Jay understands the critical role organisations like Young Bristol play in fostering their growth and potential. ‍A keen outdoor enthusiast, he values the transformative power of nature and it's ability to build resilience. This year, Jay has completed the Cambrian Way, a challenging thru-hike that reflects his belief in personal growth through new and demanding experiences!

Louisa is fundraising professional who lives in North Bristol. Louisa has over 20 years’ experience working in a number of charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, a children’s hospice in Windsor, and more recently the SS Great Britain when she moved to Bristol in 2011. Currently working at the Soil Association, Louisa uses fundraising best practice to diversify and grow income. Louisa joined Young Bristol as a Trustee in 2021 and is committed to supporting the young people of Bristol.

Luke Bigwood is a marketing and communications professional who lives in south Bristol. Luke has 18 years’ experience across the public and private sector in PR, marketing, media, events and digital communications. Luke is a qualified Fitness Instructor and enjoys many sports including football and boxing. He also has a keen interest in sustainability and environmental issues. Luke is proud to be from Bristol and wants to see opportunities for all young people to succeed in the city.

Shannon Ringland

Young Bristol holds a special place in Shannon's heart, as she had the privilege of attending the Outdoor Employment Programme 10 years ago, when she initially moved to Bristol. The programme was able to provide Shannon with invaluable skills and experiences that have shaped her professional journey. ‍Since leaving our Outdoor Employment Programme, Shannon has worked in many of the South West's top visitor attractions, and currently serves as HR and Operations Manager at Wake the Tiger. Her passion for the outdoors aligns with Young Bristol's mission to inspire and empower young people through outdoor activities and community programmes. Shannon has, first hand, seen the transformative power of these opportunities and is excited to contribute alongside fellow Trustees, staff and supporters to further our mission, ensuring more young people can benefit from the incredible work Young Bristol does.
