Lee Williams DL
Chief Executive

Lee was appointed Chief Executive of Young Bristol in 2012 and has seen the charity through a continuous period of change and growth. He now combines his wealth of experience from working in the Private, Public and Third Sector in Senior Management roles with a lifelong passion for supporting community based voluntary sector youth provision. Lee was a former Boys' Club member and went on to become a part time Club Leader of a local Boys Club. Lee remains committed to providing and developing high quality, safe but fun youth provision and programmes that are freely accessible for all young people. Lee is a trustee for a range of charities and a member of several National Advisory Boards. Lee was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of the City and County of Bristol in 2020. Outside of work, Lee has always been heavily involved in a range of sports, football in particular where has a qualified Sports Therapist he also works part time for Bath City Fc.
Andy Kimber

Andy has worked with young people throughout his career. With an interest in sports, he has worked with young people around the world in snowsports and as an outdoor activity instructor. He combined this love with youth work for a youth charity affecting positive change in young people using snowsports and life-skills. Having worked previously for Young Bristol in 2019, Andy re-joined in 2022 with a passion to help all young people to discover their potential and provide a supportive network for them to thrive. He is particularly excited about developing our community youth club offer to be the best possible for young people.

Matt has a lifetime of experience in the business, having grown from a youth club member to a volunteer then a leader in one of Young Bristol’s community youth clubs after following in the footsteps of his parents. Matt has built a wealth of knowledge and experience from front line work with young people. He has a strong passion for the outdoors and enjoys getting out in natures playground. When it comes to work not only does he strive to provide as many opportunities for young people but also enjoys developing the learning of young people to equip them with the best possible skills, qualifications and experiences.

Lucy has been working in the charity sector since 2007 and joined us in 2017. She has a wide range of fundraising and development experience gained whilst working for both national and local charities. Lucy’s role at Young Bristol includes playing a key role in shaping and implementing the Development and Fundraising Strategy of the charity to ensure we can drive forward existing and new initiatives whilst ensuring long term growth and sustainability. Lucy is passionate about making a sustainable difference to the lives of young people, families and local communities across Bristol.
India Crawford

India has experience of working with young people as both a Teaching Associate and a doctor based in Bristol. She has also previously helped with fundraising, supporting educational opportunities in the UK and abroad. India is looking forward to working with the Fundraising Team, ensuring Young Bristol can continue to make a positive impact through its programmes and services. Outside of work, India loves to cook and bake – and tries to balance this out with a mix of long walks, cycling and Pilates!

Louis recently graduated University, studying Politics and International Relations. He has also worked in the charity sector since graduating, where he has worked as a Street Fundraiser for a homelessness and housing charity. Louis also had experience coaching young people in cricket. Louis is excited to join us as part of the Fundraising Team, where he plans to help us to secure funding for our current and future projects, as well as helping us to continue supporting young people. Outside of work, Louis enjoys sports - in particular cricket!
Sue Williams

Sue has worked at Young Bristol as Administrator since 2001 and is the longest serving staff member at present! She tries to keep everyone in order here – sometimes unsuccessfully! Sue deals mainly with DBS (Criminal Record Checks), finance, as well as helping with the fundraising events and other YB functions – it’s a really busy office where no two days are alike!
Hannah Somers
Marketing, Communications and Programmes Administrator

Hannah has over 10 years of experience working in marketing and administrative support within the charity sector, working across the generations supporting both older and younger people. Hannah joined Young Bristol in 2019 as Marketing, Communications and Programme Administrator, leading on the development of the charity’s platforms and data reporting across Young Bristol’s programmes. Hannah herself gained employment through an Apprenticeship scheme in 2013, and so is extremely passionate about alternative pathways into employment, and the benefits and opportunities it can provide to young people.
Ellie Kershaw

Ellie started with the Young Bristol team as a Marketing, Communications and Administration Apprentice, after completing her sixth form studies and a few years experience working in a customer service role. Her passion for creative writing and media stemmed from the courses she previously studied. After completing her apprenticeship in November 2023, achieving a distinction, Ellie is excited to continue leading on numerous marketing and administrative projects, helping to provide opportunities to young people across Bristol!
Jason Beckhelling-Terry

Jason Beckhelling-Terry has been working with young people for over 15 years. Some of his previous experience includes: being an outdoor instructor, mobile youth centre provision, schools and community youth work. While gaining this experience in youth work, Jason also earned himself a degree in Schools, Youth and Community Work. Before joining Young Bristol, Jason was part of a team that opened and championed a large-scale youth centre in London. Jason has a strong passion for meeting young people where they’re at and hopes to inspire young people to reach their goals and think about their next stages in life. He aims to create a programme that Educates, Engages and Energizes young people and that is young person led.
Phil Harris
Outdoor Employment Programme (OEP) Lead

Phil has been delivering outdoor activities to young people and adults for over 15 years. His work and passion for the outdoors has taken him all over the world including Africa, Russia and America. He is a qualified instructor in rock climbing, mountaineering, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, mountain biking and archery. When he is not training young people on the Instructor training scheme he can probably be found climbing mountains or paddling Britains coastline in his sea kayak!
Shea Stew

Shea has worked across various sectors for the past 20 years, which have included local authorities, schools and the charity sector. Shea has a passion for engagement and specialises within outreach and holds street based engagement close to his heart. Working with young people on their own turf means you can slowly make a difference over time to the wider community. Humour and keeping close to the real issues facing communities is Shea’s biggest driver, and all together being a positive person in the wide scheme of life. With a breadth of knowledge, Shea believes all young people should have access to activities, positive environments and most importantly quality youth community workers. When Shea is not delivering to young people, you will probably find him on adventures with his family or riding motorbikes. Shea is also an events DJ and host and is well known for his vocal cords going off.
Owen Badman

Owen first began studying outdoor adventurous sport and youth work in 2017, and since then Owen has been a valued team member across the charity working on our Outdoor Activities and supporting the delivery of our new Respect Project, as well as supporting open access and evening youth work sessions at Young Bristol’s Sea Mills Boys’ and Girls Club. This experience and learning across a variety of programmes has hugely supported Owen’s development and skills, which he can now share with other young people across our programmes.

Romaine has been involved in community and voluntary work since the age of 14, and has always had the desire to work with young people of a similar societal background to himself, having grown up in Youth Centres. Romaine’s experience includes representing young people within the Youth Justice Sector, taking part in various consultations and engagement projects across the country, directed at highlighting flaws and solutions in the Youth Justice system. Romaine’s current role as Programmes Assistant sees him engage with young people across Young Bristol’s Youth Clubs, encouraging them to participate in physical activities, but also to support and guide them where he can.

Patricia is passionate about the performing arts, music, and sports. She is currently a Board Member for Theatre for Life, where she helps the organisation bring new and exciting performances to young people in schools, educating them on important life matters. In her spare time, you will often find her enjoying music and singing. Patricia is delighted to join the Young Bristol team and is excited to create new projects, helping us continue to have a positive impact on young people.
