Last week was the fourth week of Young Bristol's Summer Holiday Provision. We saw delivery from 5 of Young Bristol’s Community Youth Clubs, Youth Club on Wheels and Outdoor Activity Centre, working with new and existing young people, providing them with exciting and enriching opportunities, access to a free hot meal and the opportunity to build new friendships.

The fourth week of our Summer Holiday Provision saw:

  • 358 contacts with young people across our Holiday Clubs and Open Access provision
  • 18 sessions across the city
  • 14 communities supported through our Community Youth Clubs and Youth Club on Wheels.

Key highlights of the week:

Young people at The Grove @ Bedminster Down enjoyed a 'Circular Food' workshop, delivered by 50 Ways To Cook! During the workshop, young people learnt about upcycling food to produce less food waste and explored the soil beneath their feet. The group also made nutrient rich soil, which they planted seeds into and plan to water and look after when attending the club! Thank you 50 Ways To Cook or delivering such an amazing workshop!

Hartcliffe Club for Young People enjoyed a trip to Crealy Theme Park & Resort! Young people experienced thrills at the resorts theme park on some of their rides and attractions as well as enjoying an afternoon in the sites soft play.

We continue to deliver our Youth Club on Wheels sessions, including our new piloted session in Fishponds as well as Castle Park View, near Bristol's city centre! Our team offer a wide range of activities to young people over the Summer, including sports, arts, cooking and discussion based activities.

Young Bristol would like to thank our staff team, partner organisations, and funders for helping make last week part of the summer of a lifetime. We would also like to thank the Your Holiday Hub Bristol Programme, supported by Bristol City Council and The Department for Education, for supporting our Holiday Clubs at our city-wide Community Youth Club venues.

Youth Club on Wheels Lead shortlisted for Youth Worker Award!

Young Bristol are delighted to share that Shea Stew, Youth Club on Wheels Lead, has been shortlisted for the "Youth Worker" Award at the Age-Friendly Awards 2025!

The Age-Friendly Awards, hosted in collaboration with InCommon and Clarion Futures, celebrates intergenerational social action in communities and shines a light on the groups and individuals that are making this happen.

Shea and the Youth Club on Wheels were nominated by SNG for the "Youth Worker" Award for his work with young people in Brislington and Speedwell. The Youth Worker Award recognises an outstanding youth worker who has worked hard to make connections with people in their community. Until recently, these were two areas within Bristol that didn't have access to youth provision and had no support in place.

"Shea's energy is renowned, and our residents have seen improvements in their confidence, feeling of being connected to the community, volunteering experience, and feeling empowered."

During their voluntary day, the volunteers from Leggwork painted around the door frames and the skirtings in the main space at club. The team also painted our newly created meeting and quite space. Have your say in the new National Youth Strategy!

At Young Bristol, we are committed to continuing our mission of supporting young people by providing safe places, a supportive environment, and activities and opportunities where young people can feel empowered, included and not alone!

We are pleased to welcome the Governments development of a new ten-year National Youth Strategy to tackle the challenges for this generation of young people, and ensure that every young person can thrive.

Young people aged 10 – 21 (aged 25 with SEND), are being encouraged to take part in this once-in-a-generation strategy, bringing the power back to young people and their communities, and improving youth focused services.

It is vital that we encourage young people to use their voice, ensuring that they remain at the core of what we do.

Your future is on the menu! Tell the Government what they can Deliver You. Have your say and place your order here!
