Last week, Young Bristol were pleased to be in attendance at World Youth Clubs Leadership Institute 2024 in Atlanta, alongside some other great youth organisations from NABGC, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, Liberia and Georgia as well as states across USA!

During the first few days at World Youth Clubs Leadership Institute, attendees were given the opportunity to explore the facilities on offer for young people across Atlanta! Our team were also able to meet and connect with individuals from across the globe, who shared their experiences of youth work from different countries!

Later in the week, World Youth Clubs Leadership Institute delegates and 14 other nations were recognised at the Boys & Girls Club of America's 118th Annual Conference! It was amazing to connect with youth working peers to explore strategies and share insights. Later in the conference, we heard from some of Atlanta's alumni, including singer-songwriter Usher, who had previously attended youth clubs in Atlanta as a teenager.

We would like to thank World Youth Clubs for hosting another great conference this year. Young Bristol representatives enjoyed their time in Atlanta and have brought all their learning and growth back to Bristol, ready to apply and benefit our young people! We are excited to hopefully attend next years conference.

Youth Club on Wheels Lead shortlisted for Youth Worker Award!

Young Bristol are delighted to share that Shea Stew, Youth Club on Wheels Lead, has been shortlisted for the "Youth Worker" Award at the Age-Friendly Awards 2025!

The Age-Friendly Awards, hosted in collaboration with InCommon and Clarion Futures, celebrates intergenerational social action in communities and shines a light on the groups and individuals that are making this happen.

Shea and the Youth Club on Wheels were nominated by SNG for the "Youth Worker" Award for his work with young people in Brislington and Speedwell. The Youth Worker Award recognises an outstanding youth worker who has worked hard to make connections with people in their community. Until recently, these were two areas within Bristol that didn't have access to youth provision and had no support in place.

"Shea's energy is renowned, and our residents have seen improvements in their confidence, feeling of being connected to the community, volunteering experience, and feeling empowered."

Have your say in the new National Youth Strategy!

At Young Bristol, we are committed to continuing our mission of supporting young people by providing safe places, a supportive environment, and activities and opportunities where young people can feel empowered, included and not alone!

We are pleased to welcome the Governments development of a new ten-year National Youth Strategy to tackle the challenges for this generation of young people, and ensure that every young person can thrive.

Young people aged 10 – 21 (aged 25 with SEND), are being encouraged to take part in this once-in-a-generation strategy, bringing the power back to young people and their communities, and improving youth focused services.

It is vital that we encourage young people to use their voice, ensuring that they remain at the core of what we do.

Your future is on the menu! Tell the Government what they can Deliver You. Have your say and place your order here!

This February half term, Young Bristol have offered a wide range of activities for all young people to take part in. From sporting to creative activities, we’ve had something for everyone!

This week, we hosted an Interclub Football Tournament at St Brendan's Rugby Football Club, welcoming over 50 young people from across our club network to take part. The day brought together young people from Ashton Vale Club for Young People, Hartcliffe Club for Young People, Sea Mills Boys and Girls Club and The Grove @Bedminster Down.

The Interclub tournament started with teams playing 4-5minute matches in a round-robin format, with supporters cheering on their teams from the sidelines.

After some intense matches, it was announced that Sea Mills Boys’ and Girls’ Club and The Grove @ Bedminster Down would play against each other for the junior trophy and The Grove @ Bedminster Down would play against Hartcliffe Club for Young People for the senior trophy!

We are proud to announce that Sea Mills Boys’ and Girls’ Club were awarded our junior trophy and The Grove @ Bedminster Down were awarded the senior trophy!

Well done to all the young people who took part. It was fantastic to see them interacting and making new friends, as well as engaging other young people from across our network.

Celebrating our people and impact!

At Young Bristol, we are committed to continuing our mission and are proud to celebrate our incredible people, achievements, and impact we make across Bristol's communities.

Our programmes provide a safe place, supportive environment, and activities and opportunities where young people can feel empowered, included and not alone

However, our vital work could not have been achieved without the dedication of our amazing volunteers, corporate partners, donors and fundraisers who go above and beyond to support us each year.

Earlier this year, Young Bristol celebrated those people who make a difference across our charity, at our Celebration, AGM and Awards event on Wednesday 15th January. The event brought together 100 people to highlight the outstanding staff members, Trustees, volunteers and supporters who continue to go above and beyond.

The event also championed the young people whose lives have been transformed with the support of Young Bristol, and who have gone on to achieve incredible things during 2024. Certificates were presented to 10finalists for Young Bristol’s ‘Young Person of the Year’ Award, and a trophy and prize package was given to our 2024 winner, Eve Jackson. Trophies were also awarded to our 2024Competition Winners and Young Bristol’s Shield was presented to the winning Youth Club, Hartcliffe Club for Young People.
